"Those
wonderful six weeks had such a profound influence on my life.
The Mitzvah Corps experience helped bring me closer to G-d,
Judaism, social action
and myself."
- Urban
Mitzvah Corps Alum
Commitment to Tikkun Olam—repairing the world—has always been a major component of the Reform Jewish experience. In every generation, YOU, the youth of our movement, have led the way, showing deep concern for the fate of the world in which you live. |
| |
The NFTY Mitzvah Corps programs allow Reform Jewish teens to experience social action at its best. Mitzvah Corps combines direct hands-on involvement in communities that need energy, dedication and love that youth can provide with an educational curriculum focused on Jewish social and ethical issues. There are currently four NFTY Mitzvah Corps programs: Bay Area Mitzvah Corps in San Francisco, CA; Urban Mitzvah Corps in New Brunswick, NJ; Mitzvah Corps of the South based at URJ Jacobs Camp in Utica, Mississippi and Mitzvah Corps at Kutz on the URJ Kutz Campus in Warwick, NY. Days are spent volunteering at sites such as food banks, transition shelters for abused women, and senior citizen homes. Evenings and weekends are dedicated to different Jewish educational programming and group service projects, sightseeing, traveling and social programming.
The Mitzvah Corps
experiences are open to any member of a URJ Congregation.
